You do realize Rob, that there are so many people who go throughout life with the wish and desire to at least own one and never do. We are truly fortunate (and appreciative) that we have not one but two each.

I could live without the Ferrari but my life would be much less meaningful. To me the Ferrari is a dream, it’s a passion, it’s a love of everything life stands for. I consider Enzo for the greatest man that ever lived, and my life has been a tribute to him and his creations. I am a musician but the most beautiful music I’ve ever heard is the sound of a Ferrari engine at full tilt. I just wish I could’ve been more successful so that I could have been able to experience more than the two I was allotted in this lifetime…..

I’ve never thought about ego or anything like that concerning Ferrari ownership, to me it’s about the beauty, the design, the craftsmanship, and the art.

You all do see the irony of this, because we all own Ferraris... Talk about something a person doesn’t “need”. Worse, except for cLyDe going to buy a new one, the majority of us own used Ferraris which are basically just rich people’s hand-me-downs.

I don’t think it is immoral capitalism, it’s just part of the human condition.

Ego is a weakness that is easily exploited, add money and ideology to the mix and compromise is a walk in the park.

And I expect that line to get a chuckle from those that understand the process...

To get an idea of how easy it is to control people look at DeBeers and how they created an entire market to sell their crystallized carbon into.  And it goes beyond intelligence.  Some of the smartest people are totally susceptible to control through their ego.  Do they deserve what they get or is DeBeers a valid example of immoral capitalism?  It is crap like that enables the newest generation of communists to justify their BS.  So, yeah, those commercials you speak of are nauseating and sad all at the same time.  Marketing is the immoral science of manipulating people to buy shit they don't need.

The other vastly overused word in today's self gratification class is "deserve".

I cringe every time I hear a commercial talk you deserve their product.

Doug,

I am old enough to remember a time when everyone couldn't have everything.  I remember when people didn't think they were entitled to having anything they wanted.  Now, everyone has a "right" to everything.  Greed is based in fear and fear is the easiest way to control people who, even after millions of years of evolution, are still nothing more than scared, ego driven, animals.  The shit that passes for "normal" these days is amazing.  We are just another Roman Empire and we are falling in exactly the same way.

Yikes – what will ever happen to Disney’s Christmas ornaments or trinkets purchased for 4¢ and sold for $7.25?

The shame of it all Anthony.
