Of all the guest hosts they "auditioned", there were a couple which would have probably made me quit watching the show (my wife and I watch it nearly every day).  Joe Buck is one, and LeVar Burton another.  And  after the whole fiasco, if Mike Richards had not stepped down, he would have also made me quit watching.

 

I think Bialik is *OK*, but not great.  In my mind, she's still an actress whereas Trebek was not - which made him more "sincere" and "believable" to me.  For example, as the host, she already knows where the Daily Doubles are, so her feigned amazement ("It's a Daily Double!!") when one is uncovered is, well, just that - feigned.  Ugh.  But that aside, she's not too bad, which I fear may be the best we can hope for.

 

The one guest host that I really did like was the guy who was a financial reporter of some sort (and shame on me for not even remembering his name....).  He seemed to me to be the one who had the best handle on how to conduct himself as host of an iconic show, and was not trying to impress anyone.

 

Oh well.....  "Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky".....

Considering that most of us here enjoy watching the show, what do you all think of Mayim Bialik?s hosting duties so far?

If they did choose Mike Richards as host, I probably would not continue to watch. Neither LeVar Burton. I know the guy really wanted the job, but I didn?t like his style. At all.

Mayim seems to have really fit into the role and is completely comfortable behind the podium now. Very engaging with the players. In some ways, I find she?s better at this than Alex. I hope she ends up being the permanent host.
