...I once had a throttle cable snap in an intersection. After coasting to the side of the road and stopping, I attached the two split ends of the cable to each of the two bolt ends on top of the spare battery terminal.

 

Not much sensitivity due to the weight of the terminal but it got me home 20 miles...
