Sorry for the late reply, been in meetings. 
The 3 laws are, really:
1) You can't win
2) You can't even break even.
3) You can't quit the game. 

WRT numbers of dimensions, we are on the eve of a major revolution in
Physics, the end of the Standard Model (SM, quantum chromodynamics)  which
does not include quantum gravity or deal with Dark Matter or Dark Energy, as
well as a number of other things. The race now is for a 5-6 sigma
measurement that violates the SM, followed by a trip to Stockholm.
