Yes to both of you.  It is very common.  When I saw it for the first time I thought the owner just had sex in the car and it was the woman's left foot the did the damage.  Maybe that is also common.

Bowed in?  Where?  What picture?  I’d like to learn something. I don’t recall our ‘78 has any bowing.  Maybe so.
