Re: Twin-Turbocharged 1983 Ferrari 308 GTS

Neither is my 80 GTSi console bowed.
I converted my interior (thanks to Mr. Keegan) to an 82 style center console with the gauges lateral rather than longitudinal.

The shifter box is hard mounted to the floor. The console sits down over the shifter box, then the gate for the shifter captures the console.  For that bowing to occur, the sides of the center console must be lifted up some way so the gate pulls down on the console.  I can only suspect the owners put the console down wrong, added/replaced with extra thick carpeting or maybe added a lot of jute for sound deadening.   I tossed all my jute, used DEI boom mat and got new carpet from the guy in Germany who bought the small castle for a workshop... can't remember his name.  It all fits as it should.

So I think the answer for Anthony is it shouldn't be that way but... some of these cars haven't had the best of care.

One key modification were oil sprayers to cool the undersides of the pistons (there were two rails that ran down both sides of the block edge and had little nozzles pointing up. They?d spray a fine mist of engine oil to cool the pistons. I don?t see or know of any tuner shop that adds this to turbo builds). Mind you, in some high boost mods, tuners will coat piston tops with some sort of ceramic coating for heat shielding.
