Good example.  And our pharma supply?  Rare earth metals?  Critical transition metals?  Semiconductor wafer production?  Semicon fabs?  It just goes on and on.

So, hypothetically speaking, let's say we get fed up with unfair trade practices.  Then, let's say, the president levies tariffs to even the playing field.  Then, perhaps, China retaliates by releasing a biological weapon.  Then....what?  You can't nuke something your very existence depends on.  Hell, you can't even just shut the door via sanctions.

So two things just donged (no play on words) my knew jerk reaction:

  • Terri’s N95 face mask order just came in.  Picking up one of the five small boxes and poking about the box like a chimpanzee examining something just thrown in their cage I read all the writing and spot, in tiny tiny print . . . “Made in China.”   Well, well, well.
  • #2 – Ferrari content – several years ago while at our local dealer the sales manager and another fellow were grousing that their allotment of, oh, say 10 new cars, had been cut in half.  Yep – 10 cars cut to 5 and the other five – are going to China.  China China – Not Taiwan.

N95 the box says.  Hmmmmm – really?

Skeptically yours
