I used to get to chat occasionally with former US Senator Gordon
Smith. He had a nice car collection, including an F40. Gradually
sold most of it off.

He owns a vegetable canning operation in eastern Oregon. Heard a
rumor that he had a pair of Mondials, one yellow, one green. Custom
plates (according to the rumor): PEAS and CORN. When I next saw him,
I asked about that. He took a step back, glared at me, and said "No!
Ferraris are red! I have a yellow 911 wearing CORN, and a green
Explorer with PEAS. My red Mondial has ENZO." At which point I took
a step back. and said, "So YOU have that plate. Everybody I know has
tried to obtain it, and nobody could figure out who actually had it."

Don't know if he still has the Mondial, but it apparently wandered
around D.C. for a while wearing that plate when he was a senator.

Hans.
