Agree totally. They are garbage when actually used as tires.
Interesting the prep routine and PSI range that other competitors use to make them work. Depends greatly on the curb weight, chassis setup, weight transfer and engine characteristics...
Getting 720 HP through those things takes a lot of brain damage.
On my old '66 GT350 built to SVRA specs, the "ideas" were brilliant. We had to use a dual plane *stock* intake manifold. Original was an Al Edelbrock piece instead of Fe on non Shelby models. The engine builder shaved/ground the center divider so that what was left resembled a razor blade like a Ginsu knife.
I could cut a decomposing tomato into transparent 1mm slices using that "dual plane".
It was hilarious...

Absolutely can't fathom how you can do sub 10 seconds on Firestone
Wide Ovals, regardless of prep work. Had some on a 1972 Corvette,
they were crap.
Interesting about an engine vacuum pump. Must be high capacity, as
engine blow by, etc. would have to be a lot.
