That is incredible! And you’re correct, the factory upholstery always looks perfect. You can easily tell if an interior has aftermarket carpets/leather trim.

Ok guys,
As you know I bought Clyde’s car last summer after waiting 20 years for him to sell it to me. I knew the price would be fair and the car would be well maintained ( and it is ) but I also knew it was a a 28 years old used car. When I asked clyde what was wrong
with it he said “ Well the carpeting looks like it was torn from a Vietnam cat house but I’m a driver not a show car person” and yeah the carpet looks every bit of a 28 year old 111,000 mile car. Now this is my third Ferrari and I want my cars to look nice.
I’m not afraid of doing some work and I knew that recarpeting is possible and can make a huge difference in the feel of an interior. I also knew that oem Ferrari carpet is pretty good stuff. When I redid my 400i in 2002-2003 I found the last oem carpet in
existence for a 400i in a warehouse in London. It made a huge difference to the interior at the time.
So I looked around, found some suppliers of carpet for a 512tr and spoke to Brian Keegan who recommended somebody out in CA who sent me samples. Contacted a bunch of people about samples, I needed to keep the same colour “Beaver” since the door panels have
carpet on them and wanted the same quality. I was doing this when 2 Sundays ago I was messing on the internet and found a section of Marenello Spares website I hadn’t seen before. In the “normal” part of the website, all the carpet is NLA but I found a reference
to a set for the 512tr in the colour “Beaver” and apparently good for the assembly number of my car. And it was LHD.
The next day I called them and they checked the warehouse and sure enough, although the computers said “No” they had the last carpet set, OEM Ferrari in existence for my car sitting for 28 years in the warehouse getting dusty. It cost a fortune to ship and
import and to buy but I got it. An OEM Ferrari carpet set with all the fittings just like when new. And it’s going in the car. If you have read this far you can guess how pleased i am right now! Hope the pictures come through.
