D’oh! I’ve had my 308 on my brain for a while now and was in that mode...

 

Yes, iron block. Although it can be punched out if the wear is within limits. My GM SBC had 250,000km on it and going first oversize cleaned it up perfectly.

 

70,000 miles is nothing really...

The Dino block is cast iron and doesn't use liners.

If the liners, pistons w. wrist pins, rings and bearings were replaced and the heads were rebuilt (new guides, valves, valve seats and cams), along with new gaskets and seals you have a new engine. The block is the block, it doesn’t wear out. It’s only worn out if the decks have been milled too many times, or it suffered a massive over-heating issue (even then, the heads would also suffer collateral damage).

 

You’ll have a point if they didn’t do most of the above, which is likely because I can’t see $20K covering all of my above-mentioned items.
