Clyde, that’s a seal housing , not a cam retainer, I’ve seen a number of 355 ones cracked, my guess is a cam seal may have been installed unevenly and cracked that housing, they are fairly fragile and can be damaged putting new seals in them, the ones I have seen cracked were around the area where the rubber o ring portion meets the main body of the seal housing. Buy a new one and put it in. The cams are retained by the front cam bearing cap and journal.
