When you get to your hotel, ask the concierge for advice and match up with Yelp reviews.

You can also reasonably predict food quality by assessing the bar selections especially the whiskey and wine list.

France, Italy, even Spain but the UK no way Jose’

The UK is known for business not for culinary delights 

Most if not all the great places to eat in the UK aren’t traditional British 

Thai and Indian food is great in your country 

Like I have told every passenger, you what British food, go to a hospital!

Make a duplicate copy of your passport and carry that with you instead of the passport and leave a copy back home

It easier to get a replacement that way in case something happens

Rome you can see in 4 days

It’s a small city, you’ve been to bigger amusement parks !

Spanish steps and the fountains are big draws

The best restaurants are on the boulevard where the US embassy is ( can’t remember the name sorry)

That is indeed a blessing.  I know where you are right now and this trip will mean a lot to you in the future.

A couple of interesting stories.  First, my younger son was also 19 when we went.  My son had gotten a GF at college a few months prior to our trip.  After I planned out the whole trip I sent everyone the itinerary.  It turns out, his GF was going to be in Florence to take an art class for the winter semester at the same time we were going to be there.  Our B&B was on the other side of the city from the hotel she was staying in.  Every morning he would grab a quick bite and literally run across Florence to "see" her.  The B&B owner laughed and said, "of course, he is Italian!".  Great B&B and the owner was hysterical.

The second story is about the Colosseum.  My father was from a town just southeast of Rome.  One of his uncles traced our family tree back to ancient Rome.  I can't remember if it was 200BC or 200AD.  Either way, this individual at the top of the tree was a soldier in the Roman Army.  He was given a huge piece of land outside of Rome for his service.  Exactly why, I am not sure.  But the family has lived in this area ever since.  From that point on, most of the generations were farmers.  In addition to farming, this individual also fought as a gladiator in the Colusseum.  But the family name was derived from Latin from a term related to the farming.  I think is has to do with cattle fertility.  

I have another cool story about our trip if you are interested.  The B&B in Florence is Villa LA Sosta.

I assume you already made plans to go to the Ferrari museum, yes?

My favorite part of Rome is St. Peter's.  The Sistine Chapel is cool too, for obvious reasons.  I was underwhelmed by the Vatican Museum.  The Colloseum is ok but probably something you want to put on your list.  I had to bring my son's there because we have family history with it.  The Trevi fountain is nice but, damn, the crowds are crazy.  Most importantly, eat a lot.  Take in as many classic Roman dishes as you can, including Tripe.  If you are going between Maranello and Rome, you really should visit wineries in Tuscany and Florence.  The Uffizi in Florence was not that great in my opinion but visit the museum that has the Statue of David.  Good lord Micheangelo was amazing.  Hit the Duomo and walk around the city.  It is really nice.  And, again, EAT.
