Ah, but much of Death Valley is below sea level.  So with “y” being negative, p = exp(-ay) is driven positive…. Or higher pressure so it’s  more like a pressure cooker than an oven.    People show up in DV and stake out a picnic table with a slab of 3/4” trench plate, well seasoned, and go hiking (I know, nuts, right?) when they get back they BBQ lunch without starting a fire.   With the Preppers jumping in, they also bring the fresnel lenses from old projection TVs.   But they burned so many picnic tables up, the park replaced most of them with concrete versions.

So yeah, I’ve covered cars too.

Erik, Anthony, did I get the pressure equation right?    It’s a 40yo memory and too early on the west coast to be looking shit up.

I remember prior to the release of the Panemera (sp? the Porsche big sedan, whatever it is called). I was in Death Valley in the dead of summer, and there were several driving all around the park. When they stopped to park they'd cover them up. Some of the people driving were American, some were clearly German. Seems like a great place to hot weather test your car....

But doesn’t Ferrari conduct hot-weather testing? Considering Dubai and other Arab countries are lucrative markets, they’d have to be able to handle their heat (I doubt if they venture out in the midday sun though... Still should be capable).

I joined the FCA only because a good friend of mine is the local chapter President.

So now I get the prancing horse magazine, the latest issue show cases the Daytona.

When I first saw this car I said well you aren’t going to drive it in the summer, because I don’t see how they can cool the car down. Well in reading the article on page 47 says it’s all

“ it was challenging getting to 830 hp, and there were lots of issues around thermal management “ I bet.

Whom ever buys this car better be ready for this, I can’t wait to see some track test with smoke coming out of the engine compartment.

Having owned 12 cylinder cars and seeing the heat they put out this car is a moving Chernobyl!

Stay tuned .
