Ha! It’d be more of a pamphlet than a book!
Give the kudos to Anthony. His heat sink suggestion with give the transistor longevity. If I would’ve just replaced it, it would’ve eventually died again from over heating.
Do you think I’m going to get docked points from the FCA judges at Tremblant in July for this “non factory” mod? Are you going to snitch on me now that you know?
😊

P.S. transport and storage facilities are all taken care of here in Vancouver and Montreal. Flights are booked. Got my racing gear for the track event and will have the car tech inspected before it is shipped off. Just need to do a few
hotel stays before and after the event to take care of. Super stoked!

Great solution and photography.
Are you putting together a coffee table book on maintaining a Mondial T?

That’s even better! I picked up the heat sink and transistor from Digikey. Thank goodness they had stock:

I wish I'd seen your issue earlier, although sounds like you got it all figured out. Here's my story with the same part from when I had a Mondial QV back in the mid-1990s.
At the time, I worked at a small company that designed remote sensors, mainly for military applications. As such, prototype design and building meant we had a lady who was in charge of acquiring parts. Once I narrowed the problem to this
component, I checked the price from Ferrari and honestly I think it was even more expensive than you just quoted. I then brought the part to our parts lady, we looked at it, figured out what it was, got the part number, and then called the parts supplier and
asked for a sample saying it was a part we were considering using in production. So I got the part for free. Yay! :-) I just had to mount it back on the original heat sink.

Kudos to the help from Anthony. I have received much help over the past 20 years from the list and it is what makes it great.

If some of you will remember, I posted having a problem with the vent fan switch not working with my Mondial. Anthony Bauco contacted me off-list and we discussed this at length. He was very generous with his suggestions and help and with that, it’s running
perfectly now.
Turns out it was a burnt-out power transistor, the main one that regulates power directly to the fan motor. Ferrari did a pitiful job of installing it, not giving it a chance to dissipate the heat generated by the transistor. He suggested a suitable heat sink
that I modified so it could fit in the HVAC box in it’s original location. The original - flawed – part is close to $300. I’m in it for about a tenth of that. In Canadian dollars.
That’s what makes this list great. Much appreciated!
Peter
