It all comes down to whether you want to be a cynic or a skeptic.  I'm just not willing to go full cynic.  In general, I try to avoid that.  I am fine thinking either is possible.  Whether they only care about money or money and winning, I can also say that cynics who assume the worst of others, without proof, are usually guilty of the ethical or moral deficiency, they are ascribing to others, themselves.
