That made me think of a problem I have with my 1981 308 GTSi. My left and right signals don’t cancel themselves anymore. The left and right flashers flash as they are meant to do, but I have to turn them off myself. Very small problem I can live with. My mechanic fix my headlights (they wouldn’t stay on by themselves, I had to hold the black arm with my left hand while driving at night) by taking the column apart. I hope he won’t have to do it again to fix THAT new problem.
What do you think?

Sounds like my comment here isn't relevant to your problem, but when my signals stop working, I fiddle with the hazard light switch and they start working. I need to take that switch out of the center console someday and see if it is serviceable (or just replace it).
-matt '85 euro 308 That's a good point Rick! It's always prudent to have a good looking assistant to scratch those itches.

Just be very gentle... the old plastic/phenolic bits are brittle. I epoxied some cracks and held it by hand until the epoxy setup. That's always the point your nose starts to itch.
Yes the hazard lights come on, and so I think Peter nailed it.. my stalk assembly needs to be disassembled and cleaned

Doug,
With the standard flasher relay of the period, yes, no flash.
Those had a bimetalic strip that bent when the current of the incandescent bulbs was passed through them. They heated up, bent, lights went out. The strip cooled down and snapped back to close the contact... rinse and repeat. If you change the bulbs out for LEDs, not enough current to heat up that strip, lights come on but never blink. But, there are flashers that work with the LEDs, so all is not lost.
Hmmmm – LED no flash? good to know Thanks Rick
Mark, It's probably in the stalk itself... I know there is little that can be repaired and nothing new out there, but Verell Boaen had a good write-up on some disassembly and clean up that really helped with mine. Hopefully someone has that doc or knows where it is. By "get nothing" do you mean the lights come on but don't blink or don't ever come on? Just throwing it out there... The original flasher relays require working light bulbs to work. The current draw causes the blink. They won't work with new LED type bulbs, they don't draw enough current. There are flashers that work with LEDs on a retrofit. _________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe or modify your subscription options, please visit: https://lists.ferrarilist.com/mailman/options/ferrari/ferrari308driver%40gmail.com
