Actually, I found it quite easy to do on the GT4 because the control levers are on the dash and they just run to the heater cores and vents on the other side of the firewall.

Guys, no fancy oilers needed. Just buy bicycle brake cable housing. They’re lined with Teflon. It makes the cables glide super easy. My levers activate with one finger.

it is a bit harder on the GT4!

By the way there's a guy on eBay selling GT4  front turn indicator lights for $190 for two. Couple years ago I think I paid $700 for one……

I definitely suggest doing this after seeing everything!!!

It's super easy to remove the control panel - takes about 3 minutes. Pull the ashtray out of the cigarette lighter compartment and there's two screws below it, unscrew those two screws and pull the ashtray out and then the panel can be lifted up from the stick shift side and then pulled forward and it's simply clipped to the surrounding console on the rear by the parking brake.  Pull It Forward and the clip slides off of the console. Be sure to put a piece of cardboard on top of the leather so that the knife edges of the clip don't damage the leather.

Then you have access to all the control cables right there along with the switches which are pretty packed in and you'll need to use the electronic cleaner straw.

My cable was broken because those heater door actuator cables haven't been lubricated in 35 years..... So I'm going to try a little bit of delicate welding inside the compartment....

And I also found this nifty cable-in-place lubrication device, it simply clamps onto the end of the cable and then the lubricant straw goes into the round hole in the end and the pressurized lubricant is blown through the cables 😃

I need to do this. When mine go on holiday, if I fiddle with the hazard switch I can typically get them working again.

How difficult is it to remove the switch panel? I've never actually tried. Someday I need to try to reattach one of the cables to the heater door slider lever...it's popped off somehow (hopefully nothing's broken and I can just reattach), but I keep putting off trying to figure out how to get the panels in the center console off/out. I bet it's easier than I think.

My 85 308 turn signals took a holiday without my consent this summer, and I originally thought I had to nightmarishly dig into the stalk…..

Then found this easy fix – apparently the turn signal wiring is connected to the Hazard switch - which can cause faults.  Thus, the solution was to simply remove the switch panel, spray the Hazard switch body liberally with electronic parts cleaner and also down the switch from the top, then actuate the Hazard switch 50 times….

…..and voila’, the turn signals work perfectly now J
