What would the +/- accuracy range of outside air temperature readings be? The probe may pick up radiant heat from body panels and the motor itself, so I guess the mounting location would be very important. Also, if you are going quickly (i.e. open road speeds) would air speed add a friction effect worth considering? Some years ago, crossing the Hay Plain in outback NSW, the OAT gauge on the ML Merc I had at that time hit 48C (118F). I don’t know how accurate that was, but it was definitely hellishly hot out there.
