Race track is also safer because you have on scene medical personnel in case of an emergency

Maybe a squirrel ran in front of the car and the driver jerked the wheel hard to avoid it. Just kidding!

I don’t have to drive many miles each day but I still see an unbelievable amount of bad driving with people texting, running stop signs and red lights, pulling out in front of traffic, etc.   It is mind boggling and the driving school instruction to drive defensively is truer than ever.

I used to tell people that I always felt safer on the race track than the public roads. On the track, people are paying attention, going the same direction (mostly), sober, and with some driving skills. Not so on public roads!

I think what escapes most people's minds nowadays is that when they drive a modern car, that, if you turn left or right at the wrong time... You're still dead.

I still can't understand how people can flip a car on it's roof. A couple of weeks ago, I was driving down to Costco, when fire trucks and an ambulance come tearing up from behind me. They shoot past and pulled over to the side not that much farther ahead. As I approach, there's a bunch of people standing on the sidewalk and there it is, a Chevy Cobalt on it's roof, on the front lawn of a townhouse complex. Straight piece of road, no intersections, bright sunny day so the roads were bone-dry.

Boggles my mind...

Peter
