Subject: [Ferrari] Bad gas now OEM fuel vent hoses

Friends,

I'm pretty sure most of our gasoline here in California is cut with ethanol. I have not had any problems at all with my carburetors or my fuel lines, course I'm having all sorts of other issues but I'm 99% sure none of this is because of the fuel. I did notice a strong gasoline smell in my European GT4. This happened especially after I filled it up, and since it's a totally different system than my other US car I just figured that was the issue. It got so bad I investigated and of course the only way to see what was going on was take a bunch of parts off and it turned out that the large vent hoses had popped of the fuel filler neck!  wow

Not on this car but on my other car I'm using Dave Helms really fancy fuel hoses which are really worth the money. I would highly suggest them to anyone. They are  the best hoses available at any price.

I  b think the problem is with the car sitting. Guys here report few problems if you tank up and drive it. You could also dilute it down to 5% if you can’t buy 5% by going 2/3, 1/3 …. You don’t need to be 100% race fuel….

I've thought of that, but that really makes into a point-a to point-a car. Road trips are out of the question unless you plan to have a mobile refueling truck follow you.

I have to replace all the fuel line and the pump which was vane type the 15%
Caused havoc with my car I now only use 105 octane fuel @13.50 gallon cheaper than fixing everything and it runs much better !
