I believe Rob Garven is the only one I know who has taken his master cylinder apart and would have separated it from the booster. He would be best to talk to so I hope he sees this email...
When I took the one apart for my truck (GM), I don't remember there being any type of rubber washer or spacer in between the pushrod.

washer it preloads the master to much ,the master has has been pushed in to much !
