Is that a part not normally changed on a belt service? Do you mean one of the entire camshafts on the drivers side can fail? Fail how?

It swallowed numerous valves into the intake 

Which caused internal damage 

This type of failure is well known with 550/575 engines when the drive cam fails

Sometimes you get a warning most times not

The car had a recent belt service with Hill bearings 

It had 75506 miles on it

I would keep the car for parts but I am selling it

I have no regrets 

I buy them to drive them!
