Yeah, I get it. Crap. I would have thought that’s a part that should last lifetime of the engine…. Not break at 75k…. Bad luck! Britt Sent from my iPad On 28 Sep 2024, at 23:55, Clarence Romero Jr. <clyderomerof4 [at] gmail.com> wrote:

What’s a ” drive cam”? I know what a tensioner is…..I know the bearing can seize or fail but…..drive cam? Is that a part not normally changed on a belt service? Do you mean one of the entire camshafts on the drivers side can fail? Fail how? Regards Britt On 28 Sep 2024, at 11:54, Anthony Bauco <tbauco [at] gmail.com> wrote:

Every time my ‘87 TR had it engine out belt service its OEM timing belt tensioner bearings displayed signs of lubricant leakage. Sent from my iPhone I am sorry to say there are no pictures to speak of The drivers side tensioner or drive cam failed which caused a catastrophic failure of that head It swallowed numerous valves into the intake Which caused internal damage This type of failure is well known with 550/575 engines when the drive cam fails Sometimes you get a warning most times not The car had a recent belt service with Hill bearings It had 75506 miles on it I would keep the car for parts but I am selling it I have no regrets I buy them to drive them!
