I don’t hate the color The black car also had a ghost sky hook fault that was impossible to fix On top of that we really don’t know what other damage was done when the belt on the drivers side came loose. If we had to go into the bottom of the engine it was just going to get more expensive These are 20 plus year old cars The only major mod I did on it was the super sprint exhaust system to get the Chernobyl heat out of the engine compartment The car had two belt services in its life span that I had done Other than that it was a fine car Most of you reading this don’t drive your cars as many miles as I do for whatever reason As my good friend says “ it’s your money” Me I buy them to drive them They only made a little over 2000 575 of which most likely 1000 came to the US You only live once, I have the means to do what I want On the black 575 I paid $100k out the door! For the life of me I could never figure out why people would buy a 6 figure car and not drive it It’s like flying a fighter and not going to its limits Get another job!

Thanks, Rick, I must have missed the $34+ selling price. Still, Clyde, the question remains is that you took a $96k beating to buy a car in a color you hate instead of finding a replacement engine or rebuilding the broken one? That means the replace or fix option must cost more than $96k, which is incredible.
Anyway, I am looking forward to stories of your adventures as you pile on the miles!

IMHO that body style is too big for red.
It will either look like a fire truck or Oprah in red Spandex.

Am I reading correctly that you sold the broken one for 75 and bought the red one for 130, or 55 more? Does that mean fixing the black one would have cost more than 55? Wow!
Hope the new one treats you great! Do you know how much was spent on the preventive service?

Hope you have better luck with this one.
FWIW, I always judged the garage queens more critically.
If you pushed it out of the trailer on to the fairway, it better be perfect.
Like cLyDe, I wouldn’t start a car of that vintage that had not been run. Let a mechanic change the fluids and hand turn it for a bit before even trying to run it.
To each his own, but I get sad that they ruin cars by not using them
If it was in my budget, I’d use it as a daily driver.

Picked up a 2004 575
Bought it for $130K( they were asking 139), I know every one of you wanted to know what I Paid!
it had 23,971 on it and ok service records
It was a late model build so it had some factory upgrades my old car did not have
Noticeably quicker shifting in the manual mode which is the way I drive these F-1 gear boxes
This one had the same issue mine had but they caught it early
Common problem with the 12 cylinder the lower crank timing bearings
This is much like the transaxle issue on TR’s
If you own a 550/575/612 this problem exists so be advised
Catch it early or you will end up like I did
On another note this dealership had a 2004 575 that had less than 500 miles on it!
I told the guy never start it
There is no lubrication on any of the cylinder walls and every seal on that thing has dried up
It’s a museum piece at best and they wanted $189K for it
There was one I was looking at in Nashville at the Ferrari dealer, it had the Joseph Mengele seats!
And there was another at a Volvo dealership in Jacksonville he wanted way too much for a car that had CAT issues!
Anyway that’s it for me the drive home was great
The only thing I hate about this one is the color
RED
My old one was Black and stealthy
