| I told you about the big book from Taschen about Ferrari a few weeks ago. Well I went through it again and although I’m very happy with my purchase, I am devastated to see so many errors. Don’t they have experts whose job is to go through a book, specially a book with so many pictures, and make sure the texts are for the right pictures ? For that price $150. u.s., I expect A LOT better. I wonder if the people who paid $6,000 to $10,000 for it a few years ago have the same errors. I would be asking my money back if I had paid that much. Here are those errors I saw (maybe there are more): 1- p.23: Picture of a 458 but text says 488. 2- p.225: Text says 1961 Monaco Grand Prix but there is a banner on the photo that says “3 juin 1962’. 3- p.272: Text says “1979 T4" Gilles Villeneuve #2, but it’s "1980 T5”. 4- p.325: Takuma Sat’s Bar, should be “Sato’s Bar”. 5- p.344: Text says Lauda’s accident in Nurburgring was in “1967”, it was “1976”. 6- p.353 and 344: Same photos (Lauda’s accident at Nurburgring) but taken a few seconds apart. Why ? 7- p.396: Text describes pages 392-393 but the photo does not match at all. 8- p.407: Text for pages 408-409 is actually for pages 392-393 (drivers standing waiting for start of Le Mans race). 9- p.408-409: No text for that picture (sort of like today’s pitlane walk before the start of the Le Mans from the 60s. 10- p.435: Description of Le Mans 499 engine says “…2,994 hp”, should be “…2,994 liters”. 11- p.442: Text says Ferrari was the first to use rear wing on F1 car, that’s wrong. I think it was Lotus. 12- p.468: Text says it’s a picture of an F1 engine but it has a big fan in front. No fan in F1. 13- p. 532: Text says it’s a picture of Vettel sitting in car (view from above) but it is clearly Kimi Raikkonen’s helmet. 14- p. 538: THIS ONE IS BAD: I took a picture of that page, I hope you got it: They say it’s the F1 Austin racetrack. It is for sure. But look carefully, there is no wall between the pitlane and the racetrack and the leaders’ board is on the wrong side of the track. Is there anybody on the list who is an expert in photography ? How could they create such a weird picture ? 15- p.541: They brag about Hamilton’s Sprint race win in China early in 2025, but he was disqualified and they don’t mention it. Terrible error again. If any of you got the book, let me know if you see more errors. I’ll write to Taschen and see what they tell me. Happy New Year! ![]() Michael Savard |
