Well Ken, the car I miss the most I still have. Heh heh. My brand new 1966 Sea Sand over black VW Bug. Ferrari Willi saw to it that it had more miles to Riverside International Raceway, Laguna Seca, and Stardust Raceway as a member of the Press than I can count. It had an AAR parking sticker for Gurneys shop when he was building the V12 but racing the four banger F1 Eagles. It has drag racing history with Graham Hill who had been given a 1968 red VW Bug by the local dealership - down the Riverside freeway with Willie and me and Graham and three other lost souls stuffed in his car - I did not DARE stay with him on the off ramp - nor did the poor souls riding with him.

Ayep - THOSE were the days of Stroker Ace - - it was the decade that racing made a 90 degree turn and became BIG BIG BIG business. Gone were the days when Roger Penske trucked his Sunoco Blue and yellow Lola from Pennsylvania on an open Chevy tilt bed truck for a young pansy looking driver with a crew cut and a degree from Brown or some tall Texan character who took an anemic 4 cylinder Bristol engine out of the AC chassis and dropped in a Ford (hey, wattabout a Bartz Chevy?? Cheeze man) or another Texan who had a Doberman Pincher that was afraid of their coke machine and drove a car with WINGS?? and and and an automatic transmission.

Ahhhh, yesh. And you know what? I never sold that car and it resides in our garage waiting for the final touches of a back yard restoration. Looks kinda like it did 40 years ago - but no Press stickers or my AAR parking sticker. Maybe if I call Kathleen - - -
