And, FWIW, the price as an *option* on GM cars is near $2K.  Buying
the pieces separately or as a kit would probably be more like $5K - if
it could be done.

I played with the magnetic fluid at a Corvette school.  They had two
syringes joined nose-to-nose so when you push one plunger the fluid
passed thru the nozzles of the syringes into the other.  Without any
magnetic influence, the fluid passed readily from one syringe to the
other.  But if you place a small button magnet near the fluid, it froze
up completely solid.  Holding the magnet some distance away caused
the fluid to be more like pudding.  Interesting stuff.
