I am the owner of a fantastic 1975 308 GT4. Like Hans said they are very dependable, high quality, fun exotics to own. I drive mine every weekend, very reasonable to maintain. Since nothing is ever perfect, here goes my question. I am having the hardest time reading the correct oil level in it. The owner's manual is not very specific, it states to check the oil after the car has been warmed up but also only after a few minutes after being shut down. What do they mean by "a few minutes." I mean mine shows the following dip stick readings: after 5 minutes, oil on the tip; after 15 miuntes, oil on the minimum level; after 30 minutes, oil in the normal range; completely cold morning after, oil passes beyond the max level. I run Agip Synthetic 2000 10w40. My car runs excellent, good oil pressure and good engine temperature. My Ferrari mechanic says that these were designed with extra oil capacity so it is no problem if it has more oil than max level. Anyone know the correct measurement procedure.
