NFC: Only thing Jim C ever offered for a 7 series...

The only thing Jim C ever offered to me as far as software for my 750iL was
concerned is a speed governor! I don't know why? (Didn't have one!) Some
crazy rumor about outrunning police at Gateway Tech one year (or was he
genuinely concerned about my safety?) .... heh heh heh.

If you must get a 7, look at the 12 cylinder. I am seriously disappointed
with my 740iL. Not only is the v8 considerably slower, it takes forever to
get to my 138mph governor! I am thinking of getting it removed but as I get
older, I noticed my reactions are getting slower. My friends tell me to
consider it a "safety" feature. Also, I really don't think the ever so slight
savings in MPG was worth the sacrifice in power. (damn MB S550 took me out
bad
tonight!)

As far as the 6spd conversion when I looked into it a few years ago, I
thought it required some weird software change to a euro 730. Your car would
only
read in KPH, lose the cruise control and some other crazy doo doo. Someone
tell I am wrong or this has been corrected. When my auto trans goes, I
thought that maybe a 540 computer swap/bastardization of the 740 could
possibly
work in a 6 speed conversion. Anyone? Jim? Is a solution available yet?!?!?!?

Regarding Rob L's 6 speed 750, he still has the lousy early 118 MPH
governor. I asked him how he can stand that. His reply, "Easy, I can't
afford
another ticket or the temptation, and why (and where!) in the hell are you
always
bumping the governor!?!?"

Stereo. Before attempting any upgrade, DELETE DSP! All I did was remove
the DSP Amp and replaced it with a 5 channel Alpine a friend gave me. It
sounded so good with the stock speakers, I spent the money elsewhere in the
car.
Plenty of info on E38.org. It's amazing how much thunder you can get out of
the stock subwoofers!!!! DSP limits the lows. If in the Chicago area, come
by for a listen.

Now a buddy owes me some money but he has this direct port Nos lying
around... (no, this is not a joke)
