Well that was DAMN quick... after a tip last thursday from a UK chap about a car at a UK dealer that sounded like what I was after,... I have over the weekend sold two motorcycles and organised an extension of the house loan and I just got off the phone with the UK again and I have confirmed the purchase!

4 days from finding it to taking it....

Happy?? YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT!!!!

The add for the car reads....

"FERRARI 308 GTB Carberator Model , 1981 W Reg . This is a beautifull original
four owner 308. Rosso red with Crema leather interior. Just 42,300 miles
from new with a very very comprehensive Ferrari / Specialist service
history, complete with all bar one of its old MOT's which confirms the cars
very low mileage. Being a fixed head 308 the car does not squeek or rattle
and is a beautiful drive. The gear box is still smooth and fluid. Factory
fitter A/C. Original Single branch Exhaust system - which gives that
beautiful engine note sound fantastic. Up grade Ferrari Momo three spoke
steering wheel. Split rim Compomotive Ferrari alloy wheels."

I have spoken at length with the seller on the phone last Thursday and again tonight I am happy that all and all it's going to be one of the better ones....
I am of course prepared for it to be a used 27 year old car. That WILL need work and upgrades.... that, I can cope with... I have been working on old Italian bikes for most of my life so I know a bit about what I am getting myself in for... and I have owned and driven a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow for 4 years now so I know the price of ownership of a top of the line car.

The ONLY thing on my list it didn't have right was the Crema not Tan leather... but that is a very small mater. And if and when the leather needs attention I will have it recoloured in tan.... on the plus side, it has the full Euro spec, RHD, and the deep front spoiler... and a damn good service history.. tools, spare wheel and jack all present.

Can't wait now to get it all paid for and on it's way to New Zealand!!!

Thanks for the advice I got from people on the list.

Regards
Gavin
