Hi Doug,
The 100S had a windshield with a beautiful mechanism that allowed it to lay down flat against the cowling. It also had 2 or more rows of vents in the hood. Very elegant. The one that allowed people to put their hands down and touch the pavement you're thinking about was probably the Triumph TR2 or TR3. Both had low cut-down door openings with a cable to pull that would open the door.

Ahhh, the Austin Healy 100S. Is that the car the driver could put his arm
out and touch the pavement?

Hey CLyDe: If you want comfort and luxury, go buy a Lincoln Town Car. My
1955 Austin Healey 100S leaked like a sieve, but it was a blast to drive,
rain or shine. The windscreen had two postions, road or race. Hell, I kept
mine in race position, and if you were driving at least 40mph, you never
felt a drop. I drove from San Jose to L.A. and was dry as a bone until I
hit a signal in The San Fernando Valley. It's fun to drive the Targa
Florio in a rainstorm with goggles on for eye protection. BTW, the only
time I 'Checked 6' was when I passed a Winchells that had a cop car out
front.
