Does the laptop appear to still be booting (you should see hard disk
activity). If nothing, then the issue could be motherboard or display.

Helped a friend with an identical issue. I attached a monitor to the VGA
port and as soon as I could after power on I hit the Fn/F8 (or whatever
combo) to enable the monitor. Everything booted fine, just no video on the
laptop.

Turned out the laptop video display had failed. Luckily, it was under
extended warranty so Dell just sent a guy out to swap it. Problem fixed.

Hey guys,

Quite simply my laptop will not bootup...you get the startup screen 2-3
seconds after turning the computer on, then after that's done, the screen
goes blank and stays that way.

I'm figuring this has to be a straightforward problem since it just happened
out of nowhere with the computer running fine otherwise.

Appreciate the ideas...

thanks,

Fellippe
