At one point in time I was approached by an employee of Accura, we discussed
my spending time with the Calif. based marketing guys to see if the NSX
could not be made to sound more "Italian" which was one of the few acknowleged

shortcomings of that car. At the time, I guess I should have tried to make a
serious case for doing so.

Oh well, Phil

Back in the mid 90's I spent a year as a car salesman. I sold Fords. Before
the flaming starts ;-), I was an educated salesman and my customers were
educated buyers (accountants, engineers, etc..) hence I didn't make any money
at
it... but I digress. I worked for a large dealership in Houston at the time
Ford introduced the Expedition. I recognized it as big opportunity for us
salespeople and learned everything I could about the vehicle. Shortly
thereafter a
group of Toyota engineers and executives visited 4 dealerships around the
country, including mine, to learn about Ford's full size SUVs and trucks. I
was
chosen by the dealership to sit with them and go over the finer points of
the vehicles. Given I was inculded along with the best salespeople on the
floor
I was quite flattered. Seeing what Toyota has produced since then I look
back and feel somewhat like a "traitor".

An interesting note was that as I was demonstrating the folding second row
seat, a Toyota engineer observed that a woman attempting to get to the third
row seat could concievably snag her skirt on the mechanism exposed by the
folded second row seat.

As far as my changing tastes in the best looking v8 / flat 12 go. The 308
GTB and 365/512 Boxer would have received my vote back in the day but the
quirky gt4 get's it now, along with the 512TR.

While on a drive with some local car enthusiasts I saw a green metallic NSX
going the opposite direction. I saw him staring at us but I was the only one
of our group that noticed him...
