Check the parts manual as well for good views on where all that stuff is

Patrick,

You're about to embark on a REALLY fun job if you want to take that timing
case off. Those aren't bolts holding the oil pump tube, they're studs.
You'll need to double-nut them off because you can't get a stud puller in
that small of a space.

It would be nice if you had to replace only the bearings on the outside of
the timing case. Do you really think you need to replace the inner
bearings?

If you need to get the case cover off....first drop the oil pan (be aware
that the dipstick tube extender will most likely make it fairly difficult to
drop the oil pan....see if you can stick your pinky into the hole (STOP IT!)
after you take the dipstick tube off and try to pull the extender out. Once
you've got the pan off you'll see how much fun you're about to have.

The "proper" way to remove the timing case is to first separate the engine
from the gearbox....but you don't have to do it that way. Just go forward
from above. Look at what's in front of you and it should be
straightforward, although not fun. Get a parts book if you don't already
have one, replace all the bearings and seals in there if you HAVE to get
that timing case off.
