Re: first Ferrari...... and last

You're right about the money. I forgot to add that I borrowed every
penny to buy it. I figured that if I waited to have the cash, I would
never buy it. I found the monthly payment very easy to do once I had the
Ferrari. Now it,s paid for. Funny thing is ALL of my friends acted the
same way: They were not that surprised. It kind of disappointed me. One
guy even said without missing a beat, "Finally, you'll have another
subject to talk about, instead of ONLY talking about your dream
Ferrari". Another story that convinced me was that a friend's father had
an airplane in the 60s. That was his dream. He remembered taking THE BUS
every weekend to get to the airport, fly a few hours with his father and
go back home by bus after the ride. He didn't have a car, but he had an
airplane. They should make a movie about that guy.

Nice story! I've owned my 308 for 9 years now and
like you, dreamed of it for 25+ years (I'm a 1950
model ;-) before that. I restored and sold MGs and
the like to build my Ferrari fund. The most important
bit is that we always KNEW that we would eventually
own one! Most people don't have that kind of
imagination and suffer from the limitations of their
own assumptions (have to be a millionaire, maintanance
will bankrupt you, etc.).

best regards,

rick
