I agree with all that was said here. If the car has the new 512M carrier then all is well in mudville. However cycle the gear box and see if all the syncro?s are working properly. Usually 2nd and 5th gear syncros go first on the TR?s to include 512?s. I plan on doing my gear box on the next major service and seeing if it in fact has the upgrade. In theory you can remove the left side plate from the transaxle cover and see if you have the upgraded 512 M transaxle carrier on your car. A parts book is very helpful in showing what is what in the gearbox. The TR (and 512TR) differential carriers are multi-piece weldments. The 512M carrier is one piece. I asked several Ferrari mechanics, whose opinion I value, whether it is necessary to replace the original style carrier with the 512M and they said that unless the vehicle was really beaten on (drop clutch starts, etc.) that it wasn't needed. The fact that the car you're interested in was tracked would change the equation a bit. Does it have the 512TR or the 512M carrier? clyde wrote: >Yes it is >And it is the way to go if you plan on keeping a TR > >Call me at 678 641 9932 anytime >After 7PM East coast time and we can talk >Or try to call me now >I fly out around 10 am > >Clyde >Sent via BlackBerry from Cingular Wireless > >-----Original Message----- >From: "Dave Handa" <dave [at] davehanda.com> >Date: Wed, 11 Apr 2007 20:09:49 >To:clyde <clyderomero [at] worldnet.att.net> >Cc:ferrari [at] ferrarilist.com >Subject: Re: [Ferrari] TR question and please Clyde,do not kill me! > >512TR or 512M diff and trans?
