Pat -

If you have a copy of that article and could scan it, I'd like to see
it.

It's been a while since I've heard a good Blues Brothers quote. Good way
to start a Monday!

F1 Racing had an excellent article about Massa over the winter which
talked about Massa learning all last year from Michael.

Also, if the measure of a man is how well he does under duress, Alonso
is failing miserably. His comments about the first corner yesterday
indicate that he feels he should be entitled to pass just because he's
Alonso. I also feel Hamilton is also seriously into his head. I would
not be surprised to see Alonso involved in a massive wreck in the next
few events, especially if Hamilton and Ferrari continue to be in front
of him. BTW...
this goes back to last year where he blamed anyone and anything except
himself for his lead over Michael in the points disappearing:

"I ran out of gas. I, I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for
cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came
in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A
terrible flood. Locusts. IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD."

Massa looked fantastic in the first corner! That's the first time I've
seen him display the killer instinct that made Michael and others
champion material. I really don't think Alonso expected to be challenged
in that pass, and he was damned lucky not to be clipped when he came
tearing back onto the track. Massa even left him plenty of room if he
(Alonso) hadn't been carrying too much speed, so I'm sure it looked fine
even to Spanish marshalls.

My wife is convinced that Michael is coaching Felippe behind the scenes.
It does appear that way from Massa's quick progression into a
clear-thinking, mistake free pilot.

Was nice to see BMW running well. Wish my TR had held a wheel as well as
Heidfeld did when the nut was missing.

What happened to Renault? They seem to have slipped a lot further than
I'd expect for one season...?

Oh boy - Alonso did NOT look happy. Missing the pole (and you KNOW his
fuel strategy was set to take it), slipping to 4th (then inheriting a
podium when Kimi DNFd), and not even grabbing fastest lap. That was a
forced smile and wave on the podium.

Massa opened a serious 64oz can of Whoop Ass(TM). When he got out of the
car, he looked ON FIRE! Then he discovered in the interview that he HAD
been! Bust out the 'mallows!

Lewis Hamilton is the real deal. I said he looked promising before the
season, but I didn't expect him to be THAT good. Wow.

Kimi? Does mechanical failure just follow him around? I mean come on! I
love Kimi, and I get frustrated (far less than he does, I'm sure) when
his hardware fails him. Arrrrgh. I support Massa as a Tifosi, but I must
admit I am a bigger Kimi fan.

This was an eventful race - pit fires, air-jack men being pulled to the
ground, on-track contact (my TiVo's slomo button got a workout today),
and BMW leading a race for the first time this season.

It's already shaping up to be an exciting season!
