If it was sent parcel post, it could take as long as 4-6 weeks. So, I'd give it a bit more time. I've bought and sold a fair amount of stuff on eBay over the years. Although it is not as kind and a warm place as it was when it started, most people are honest. All but two transactions I've had have been fine. Of those two, one never shipped the item and the other claimed to have shipped it and that it was lost in the mail but could not provide any proof of it. In both cases Paypal reversed the charges and gave me a full refund. Here is some Ferrari content speaking of ebay and its beginning ... I was lucky enough to have gotten 100 shares of ebay at the IPO price of $18.00. Sold it at the right time less than a year later, and that is how I happened to buy the 308 :-) Jeff -----Original Message----- From: Fellippe Galletta [mailto:fellippe.galletta [at] gmail.com] Sent: Wednesday, May 16, 2007 12:05 AM To: Jeff Greenfield Cc: The FerrariList Subject: [Ferrari] OT: Ebay advice needed I know a lot of you out there are ebay gurus...wanted some quick advice here. On April 3rd, I won an ebay auction for a sweet vintage car audio amplifier. I sent payment through paypal the next day and asked the buyer when he would send it and he responded by saying he'll ship it on monday (it was a friday). Two weeks from that supposed monday, didn't get anything. I figure he's in LA, I'm in NYC....trying to give the benefit of the doubt as he had good feedback (but not perfect feedback as I'd later find out). I send emails to contact him, get nothing back for the next few days. I decide to contact ebay and they said that I should take it up with paypal to make a claim. So a day or two goes by and I write the guy an email telling him that if I don't get a response in a day or two, that I will contact paypal and void the entire transaction, blah blah blah. The next day he writes back the following: " Your amp is on it's way. I can't send it priority because it costs too much to ship. I sent it ground. USPS. I'm not trying to rip you off or anything. I had my little girl in the hospital for a week with RSV. I'm not trying to scam you or anything. I have pretty good feedback. And i know how paypal works. Let me know when you get the amp and enjoy. This amp is the best! Sorry for the dealy but you will get your amp. I promise Thanks!" It's been 11 days since he wrote that email. How f**** long does it take worst case scenario to ship a 3 foot , 10-15 lb amp from LA to NYC?? Of course I'm being very optimistic here and assuming it really was sent, etc. I spoke with USPS and they said they'll wait 14 days before investigating...so I guess that's the worst case scenario. Look, I'll be honest, I'm probably being naive here....totally blinded by the fact that this is a gem of an amp that's very rare and hard to find. If it were any other commodity I would have just cancelled this long ago... I figure I have a few days left before it's time to write it off and void this transaction... Oh yeah, I just remembered that I never got any tracking # at all for this stuff and have asked for it too. It's hard to read this guy....the RSV thing seems sincere, but even then why is it so hard to keep people in touch or have someone do this stuff for you (and I've offered my phone # numerous times)?? What bothers me the most is that I don't get contact from him at all until he was threatened......major pet peeve of mine. I really am in no rush to get it.....just hate the doubt. Maybe I need others to tell me the obvious...it's hard to let go of the dream though. ;-) thanks, Fellippe ps - In case anyone is wondering what this 12 volt 250 GTO I'm hopefully getting...it's the Phoenix Gold MS1000...circa mid to late '90s. If anyone here has that and wants to sell, we have a deal. :-) _________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe or modify your subscription options, please visit: http://lists.ferrarilist.com/mailman/options/ferrari/coyote%40acme-ltd.com Sponsored by BidNip.com eBay Auction Sniper http://www.BidNip.com/ and F1 Headlines http://www.F1Headlines.com/
