The changer should not require any special mount to prevent skipping...in
fact it should be mounted as rigidly as possible. Running a cd laser
cleaning disc can stop skipping. I have to do this about once per year in
my cars when they start intermittently skipping.

A newer model probably would be more immune to skipping. I bought a new
Kenwood 10 disc changer for about $140 on Ebay a while back for my 355
spider.

Subject: [Ferrari] CD Changer Installation

Howdy,
I finally have a working CD Changer for my '91 Mercedes (long story) -
it attaches to the amp & tuner in the trunk so I need to mount it somewhere
back there. Under the hat-rack would be the best place, but other options
will be considered.

I'd like to minimize CD skipping if possible - are there generic
cushioned mounts I could in install the changer on to provide a safe and
cushioned place to install the Changer? BTW, the changer is a 6 disc
Alpine changer that had been in a 95 Porsche 993 owned by a fellow
Rennlister which was replaced with other equipment.

    Any tricks to installing it?

    Any suggestions?
