The Ferrari wind tunnel (and most now I would imagine) utilizes a steel
moving floor so as to properly simulate the flow of air under the car.
Think of the typical people mover at an airport.

That floor is apparently what failed and it failed at speed.  You can
imagine the damage that it could do.  I'd imagine the fact that no one was
reported hurt is a bit of luck.

Just wondering.  Don;t know much about wind tunnels myself, but never  
before heard of one failing - although it might happen all the time.   
Thought it strange that the failure was blamed for so much of the  
teams problems early in the season and now one of the guys involved  
in body design is suddenly cast as a "spy" - why not saboteur?
