I am a bit surprised that no one has suggested mating
a different (read: affordable and robust) transmission
to the engine.  This isn't rocket science and the
gearbox in Ferrari's road cars is not what makes the
car a Ferrari.  That happens a few feet ahead of the
gearbox. :-P
