I remember years ago when I heard that RR got a GM turbohydramatic
transmission, put it under the glass, discovered some micrsopic little
ridges/bumps on one of the surfaces, put it down to "shoddy engineering"
and
removed them.  Trans then refused to work.

Correct Dennis. If it were built in the 1st place surely it can be
rebuilt.
Might not be cheap, but the parts existed at one time to build it and the
machining done can always be done again. I'm at a loss to understand how
a
comment like "cannot be rebuilt" can be made. If the parts were
completely
used up it might be cheaper to buy another transmission but it can be
rebuilt even if the replacement parts must be fabricated.
