Thanks for the link. Typed in my last name, just for kicks, and it turns out that there are funds held in Florida under my Great Aunt's name. It is under $100, but my father and his cousin are the executors of the estate and not claiming them could have potentially lead to liability for their failure to adeem the funds.

BTW, most states also post information about such property in the Internet
(besides advertising periodically). See, e.g.: http:// www.missingmoney.com/

Does any one know if this is clearly stated on their safe deposit box
lease??Have any of you ever had this brought to your attention by what
ever institution at which you may have a safedeposit box?


Do you suppose that it should be the banks responsibility to remind
you every year when they send you your bill that this could happen to
you if you do not check in every xxxxx period of time? If they are
mailing you a bill/statement anyway would it not be easy to do this??


Are their any bankers on the list who might be able to address this??
