I'm sure the Sheriff was lying, having been in the same situation myself several times. Like Dennis, I've got six V1s and none has ever failed. The problem for you is, it doesn't matter. As with all traffic court trials, they will never take your word over the sheriff's, and saying that your radar detector never went off merely pegs you with the judge as a chronic speeder. It's clearly a revenue ticket (which aren't?). I'd recommend you contact an attorney or see if the sheriff might be willing to change the ticket to a non-moving violation at the same or higher fine. I've had luck with that. Costs you a little more up front, but less in the long run. -- charles PS - Rich - K40 used to offer to pay your tickets. So does Phazer now. The problem is that the ticket is never really the real expense. The real expense is the insurance premiums. In this case, them paying the ticket hurts you because you are less likely to fight the ticket vigorously, and then you find out months later how much it really cost you when the insurance premium comes due. -----Original Message----- From: Misc [mailto:misc [at] 308systems.com] Sent: Thursday, July 26, 2007 10:45 PM To: Charles Perry Cc: The FerrariList Subject: [Ferrari] Valentine 1 and radar Well, the local Sheriff tagged us renegade lawbreakers on our way back from Cheyenne Frontier days for 60 in a 45 on a feeder street here in Ft. Fun. The Sheriff's cruiser was coming at me from about 100 yards when I noticed him pull over, turn around and flip on the lights. I looked down and was going maybe 50 - 51, with my V1 fully powered. The V1 never went off, even when he was pulled behind me writing the ticket. I asked him how he new I was doing 60 and he said "I've got radar". Then I said I have a radar detector and it never went off, and he seemed flustered. Then I asked him what band and he said "K band". All this seems highly suspicious, and perhaps I am a victim of "increasing revenue syndrom", or perhaps my V1 just unexpectedly crapped out. I plan on sending it to the factory for test/calibration to ensure it is working, and I wonder if any of you have had similar experiences with a non-functional V1 (or overly zealous fundraising police)?
