I have Vista Home Premium on a Dell Dimension E521 and on an HP laptop for
the past couple of months or so and no apparent problems with either one. I
heard about the problems when it first came out but I haven't experienced
anything personally, so maybe they have been fixed.

As much as there might be a concern over being a beta tester for Microsoft
(aren't we always doing that?) the pace of change in computers is so fast that
I wouldn't advise buying the old model system since you'll want to replace it
soon anyway as new software designed to take advantage of Vista is developed.

I hate to do this on the ferrari list but lots of you guys are techs and I

not!

I need to order a new home computer. Usually get a almost top spec Dell.
Have
just found out that Dell UK only offers Vista on the machine I want.

I have heard lots of stories about problems with Vista not working with
older
software/hardware. I dont want to buy new printers and get new software for
all the cameras/printers/scanners ect.

Anybody have any thoughts on Vista now that its out 9 months? Would software
made for XP automatically not work with Vista? Its going to be a new ma
chine,
do you think I will have fewer problems?

Anyway to get XP still on a top of a line new computer or should I take the
chance?

Help!

Many thanks
Britt
