Adding to Dennis's comments, the stock rear 265 width is difficult to find.
Many will choose the 275/40/18 as an alternative. Or go with the widest
possible size, 295/35/18.

The 3 most popular model tires at present seem to be the Michelin Pilot
Sports, Bridgestone 050 and Goodyear F1 GS D3

Frank, we discussed getting new tires for your car. I do recommend that you
get this done before we go out to the Glen; your rear tires are pretty shot.
You have some discretion as to sizes; I and others have gone to a wider rear
tire, which helps cure some oversteer. It's also a more available size; if
you stick with stock factory sizes in the rear, your choices are much more
limited.

So, my recommendation is to stick with the stock size in front, 225/40-18,
and move from the strock rear (265/40-18) to the larger 295/35-18, which
will fit on your stock wheels just fine.

You have several options for brands; I use Michelin Pilot Sport (not the
Pilot A/S nor the Pilot Sport Cup), which others to whom I've recommended
this have also liked. Alternatively, you can go with the Bridgestone S-03
Pole Position, for roughly the same price. BF Goodrich tires are not as
good in the wet and/or too expensive. Again, stick with the Pilot Sport or
go with the S-03s.

If you want to save some money, look into Kumhos or Toyos.

You can order Michelin Pilot Sports from Costco, and they'll install for
free. Or order from www.tirerack.com, which MAY be cheaper - but you'll
have to pay $10-$40 per corner to mount and balance. Tire Rack also sells
the S-03.

====================

Michael, your shop does tires too, right, so no worries about mounting and
balancing?

Ping me privately if you want to save an extra hundred bucks on Pirellis.

vty,
