"Super slippery" is not what you want in a tranny. You need some
friction to get the syncros to work.

See the tech info on the MTL that Dave Handa mentions, as well
as their 75W90NS gear oil at:
www.redlineoil.com

The 75W90NS specifically mentions that it provides better shifting
because it DOES NOT have friction improvers. But, alas, our
gearboxes combine a tranny - which needs oil that is not
slippery, with a positraction diff - which does need slippery
oil. It ends up being a compromise. To make matters worse,
some/many of the gear oils suitable for the positraction diffs
are corrosive to the tranny syncros. The Redline products are
OK, as are some others. Last that I heard, Mobil 1 does not
recommend their gear oils for syncronized trans applications.
