AFAIK MTL is the wrong oil for a 308 transaxle as it is not a hypoid oil.

Redline 75W90 NS is a better choice with a very SMALL amount of friction modifier added to keep the LSD happy.

This is my understanding and is what the people at Redline reccomend.

However, I have not been able to confirm that the 308 requires a hypoid oil with any certainty.

You don't want to use an oil that is too slippery as the synchros require a certain amount of friction to work correctly. Most gear oils have friction modifiers added to them for the differential ... This presents a challenge with regard to a transaxle.

YMMV,

Jeff
