Peter, I currently have a set of "GT" Hoosier radials that are the spec tire from last year's Grand Am series. On my mint condition POS, I found that 18-19 FR and 21-22 RR were best (all cold). Specs (Ambient air temp 74 degrees): Front Engine-RWD 3295 lbs (with half tank) Dist- 55% FR- 45% RR 265rwhp 3.23 Final Drive 18"-245mm FR tire width 18"-305mm RR tire width -1/8" Toe FR -3.4 degrees camber FR -0.5 degrees RR 0 toe RR I found the Hoosiers to love lots of neg camber and low pressures. I started with 27 all around and lower I went up front, the more neutral I could get the balance. Finally, at 18 cold, my pants were around my ankles...mission accomplished. The resident STIG at the track claimed that my car was one of the best handling of its type he had driven. I took that as a compliment since was a professional racer and...I built the car myself! :) LS ----- Original Message ---- From: Peter Pless <ferrarilist [at] pless.com.au> To: LS <lashdeep [at] yahoo.com> Cc: The FerrariList <ferrari [at] ferrarilist.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 7, 2007 7:45:01 PM Subject: Re: [Ferrari] Tire Pressure for Aftermarket Wheels What hot pressures do you run with the hoosiers? I'm asking because a car that I haven't driven in a week and a half has a flat...it's on an R Compound Hoosier that is so stiff, it doesn't even look down, yet it shows 9psi on a tire gauge. BTW-Handles pretty good with 9psi. The Hoosiers heat up evenly with 18-20psi (FR) on my 3295 lbs curb weight, 55%FR/45%RR, RWD, V8 car. Toyo RA1s are good with 22-24 psi on my 2850lbs curb weight, 54%FR/46%RR, RWD, V8 car. And, I hope nobody out there is aligning their Ferrari with less than factory specified (and thus performance oriented) specs. Buy a Honda minivan, like I did, if you're worried about tire wear! Most modern RWD cars with fat tires will tend to wear the rear tires more in the middle, and the fronts on the outside edges. If you want to maximize tire life, you may need to find a compromise between what feels good, and what works for wear.
